Hello everyone, I'm considering buying a SUSE 10 enterprise, I read from their web that I need to enter the activation code during installation, however, I am a studing living in a student apartment, when I open any website, it directs me to a page that asks me to log in to gain internet access, and I tried to login then reboot from installation disk(of other linux distros), but it does not work, when I reboot, it logs me out. So how can I activate it? Can I do it after installation?

BTW, I heard that SUSE's softwares are quite old, what versions does it use?

Thanks a lot!

I think that with Suse 10, you use the registration code that comes with the disk set, to register for free support that Novell supply. I don't think that you have to register. You will get good support and helpful advice from the Suse forums.
With regard to Suse's software being old - it is updated all the time. Maybe you could download and install Opensuse 10.3 or if you wait 3 weeks you could download and install Opensuse 11 which is technologically very up to date.

I have only tried the Demo (which was good for 45 to 60-days; anyway, as I recall, they sent me an email with the code. I am sure that when one would activate the Demo for real, they would simply email you the new code.

"Can I do it after installation?" I don't recall, but if you have it by email, it doesn't matter whether at install or post install.
