hello
i just installed suse 10.3 in a new gateway laptop everything works fine overall except for the following configurations - wireless network card does not connect automatically, i have to manually choose the network and type the wep key to connect to internet, how to configure to automatically connect to a network?? -the windows key does nothing, i would like it to open the suse start menu -the laptop Fn (function) key doesn't work anymore, nor any of its combinations (volume, brightness, etc..) - the monitor is too bright, it almost burns my eyes, but i can't find a way to decrease the brightness, this is very annoying i really want to stay with suse for this time so i want to solve this issues as soon as possible to start working on the real thing, i would be glad if you can point me in the right direction thanks for your help |

Network:
I think the only way you will be able to do it is to use kwallet, it can store your wep key and auto start at boot and start your network. I don't use wireless, but have done this before myself on someones laptop. Key Functions: Try Control Centre - Regional & Accessibility Monitor: kpowersave should help. Right click - configure Look for brightness settings |

thanks caf4926
i have tried what you said, but the brightness tab says it is not supported, but i'm sure the screen is capable of that because it worked before, for the keys is the same, i can't find where to set custom commands and i have a lot of hotkeys broken, brightness is one of them, the windows key, there is a button for bluetooth and one for mute too this OS has been great so far but there are this two little issues, and they are very notorious so i cannot simply skip them, and i think thats very important factor to improve the user experience and encourage to keep with the system thanks for your help |
