Hi guys,

I was wondering cause my openSuSe 10.2 went haywire last night,
after i fixed my monitor settings in SA2X and fixing the graphics in my NVIDIA MX440
i set just ONE value, it was "noaccel =1" and after the restart, it just froze!

Help! I need even at least a reset code just to reset the settings of my display settings and get the desktop back into it's normal state.

Thanks guys

Try editing your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and change the value of noaccel to 0. You will probably have to be in runlevel 3 to do it since your desktop is freezing up.

If that works -- great. If not reboot and when you get the grub screen type the numeral 1 and press enter. that will boot you to single user with Olympian powers with only a console (not a GUI). Login supplying root's password and try these things one at a time until it works:
sax2
that will recalibrate the X-Window system with input from you.
Then run startx

If that doesn't get you back redo it with
sax2 -a
that will recalibrate X-Windows system without input from you
Then run startx

If that doesn't get you back redo it with
sax2 -m 0=vesa (or or 0=800x600 or whatever, but start low)
that will recalibrate X-Windows system using your specified
Then run startx

If that doesn't get you back redo it with
sax2 -r
that will recalibrate X-Windows using a re-initialised hardware detection database
Then run startx

When something works and you get to the normal GUI (albeit for root), goto Yast --> hardware --> graphics and fine tune. Then reboot and log in as your normal self
