Yesterday I installed Windows Server 2003 onto another partition on my computer , this was after I had installed OpenSUSE. The problem I have now is that windows boot loader does not give me the option to boot into OpenSUSE. Does anyone know how I can get back OpenSUSE without reinstalling it?

Never mind I found out how to fix it. You just had to use the install disc and where it asks would you like to Install, Update, or Other Option, you select Other Option and then choose the Boot option. Hope this helps someone else with my problem.

Boot the SUSE install CD/DVD and go into the repair system.

Hmm, didn't realise that it was gone from 10.3, haven't had to repair anything for a long time
. This appears to be the page for 10.3, which unfortunately is not so automatic. Wonder why they took it out of 10.3.http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Howto_repair_bo...n_opensuse_10.3 |

BTW, for the OP, once you have OpenSUSE running, booted from the install CD, it should suffice to reinstall the bootloader from YaST or from the CLI:
grub-install /dev/sda Probably sda, but check that your primary disk is sda. If you have a more complicated multi-disk setup, better read the article first. This is really the Repair From Inside option of the article but no need to boot with the supergrub disk. |

The alternative page is interesting but I prefer the option (mentioned there) to boot from dvd --> yast --> system --> bootloader --> other --> propose new configuration --> finish. So simple And no one has yet explained to ryaneowww the original request "The problem I have now is that windows boot loader does not give me the option to boot into OpenSUSE" which is easy enough to install as a boot.ini option. Anyway, not sure any more options would be a good idea at this time. |
