I have installed suse 10.3 on a compaq f572us laptop. The ram and HD are all that has been changed (ram to 2 gig, and HD to 250gig) The HD is partitioned so I can dual boot into windows. I used the default options Suse recomended during install. (3.42gb for swap, 18.1gb for suse and 27.24 gb for home)

I can boot into failsafe mode with out issues, but normal mode hags around the "fuse init (API version7.8)
It has made it to the appArmor initialization as well. When it hangs the system it completley non-responsive, The cursur no longer blinks either. The only option is to hold the power button.

When I boot in to safe mode and su and then run startx. the screen goes grey and I can the mouse pointer and move it, but that is all that is on the screen.

I have succesully loaded Mandriva 2008.1 without issue, so I'm not sure where the issue could be.

Any ideas?

figured out to do "acpi=off" and it is working!!

I'm glad you've got it going. I had a thought while passing by: could it possibly have tried to use an ntfs partition to install to? the "fuse" message is associated with ntfs.
