hi
what can be the reason for this. When I installed 10.3 on a fresh partition with the option of having KDE after, the system start lead me only to the local-login with line-command support. before I installed Version 9 and all functioned very well with a VGA screen. Which changes had been made in the new version? what can I do?

If graphics driver gets messed up, type 3 in the boot line to get runlevel 3 - login as root

type
sax2 -r -m 0=vesa

reboot
this should enable a display using vesa

Can you explain what you mean by "the option of having KDE after". Did you actually not install KDE?

excuse me, I'm new with opensuse: how can I type 3 in the boot line? the boot starts automatically from a start screen without input possibility (I think)

After pressing the power on button, after the BIOS POST information scrolls by, when the very first grub boot screen appears, you are given a choice to boot to openSUSE, or openSUSE fail safe, or if you have MS-Windows installed, also to MS-Windows. If you look careful at that boot screen, you will see an options line.

As soon as that screen appears, if you simply press "3" (no quotes), the number 3 will appear in the options line. Then select the normal openSUSE boot (by using the up/down arrow keys), press <enter>, and boot.

Its really that simple.
