I have a multi-boot system. Win98, 2 of WinXP Pro (one for home and one for work). I use System Commander 9 for my boot manager.I have 4 HDs 2 SATA and 2 IDE. One IDE is on the SATA through the use of an adapter.

The problem I'm having is when I try to install Open Suse 10.3 it doesn't see the HD I want to install it to. It is, of course, the HD with the IDE to SATA adapter. Is there some way to force Suse to see this drive? Or am I going to have to do massive OS rearanging on my HDs?

Wow, that's quite a neighborhood you've got on your box. I am hesitant to say much because I really don't know what factors are involved with that many drives (two is plenty for me!). I would think the Suse (or linux in general) should be able to access any and all supported hdds (or linux wouldn't get very far in the server world!). I would highly suspect the SATA - IDE adapter is causing the problem (but I have never used one, so I can't be certain). Does Windows "see" the drive?

Yes, windoze lists the HD and can be accessed. I think it's the adapter too, but I was hoping there was a way to get around it. Ahh well.

System Commander has a feature that allows the user to show/hide the partition. Ensure that the target partition isn't hidden. Format the target partition using ext2 or ext3 fs with System Commander.
Reboot the computer and use the openSUSE installer to install openSUSE.

Cheers!
