Okay I have a Gateway GT5464 running Intel Dual-Core Processor 2140 1.6ghz/2gigs ram/300gig harddrive. Nvidia Graphics Card.

Now my problem is weird. Don't know! I downloaded the DVD version of Install of OpenSUSE 10.3 which I read and heard has a lot of the drivers there to make the install better. Than just using the Live CD of OpenSUSE 10.3. Now here is my problem when I put in the DVD in my drive and boot into the DVD the install will start but sometimes it will just freeze like the activity of the cursor will move slow. I will leave it there for about 10-15 minutes and even LONGER and it still does not do anything. So I will have to do a hard shut down. Which is by pushing in the power button in. Now when I reboot into the DVD and start the install again it will go past entering some information and then when it hits the section to enter either your root password/user name or get latest release notes it will freeze. So it pretty much happens during random times. Now I thought it could be my RAM. But I also have install Windows Vista and it runs perfect and also I have tried to install Ubuntu Linux and it also installed and ran fine. So after playing with it I finally got it to install and finish the install. But it is just weird like this one of the worse installations I have had in a long time. Do you think it could be the way I burn the DVD? Or the type of DVDs I'm using? I'm just curious so for future reference I could get the problem worked out so i wont have to go through this again.

For OpenSUSE 11 comes out!

Thank!

Did you try a "safe settings" installation?

as u may have read i'm having tons of trouble installing (mine is a live cd though) since i have no os i get a text based screen so i've been trying to install with yast. it also freezes randomly during install (once freezing at 97% talk about depressing.) i have yet to get it installed what's really weird is sometimes when i type yast it wont work but, if i turn my computer off and on 10 times yast might actually come up only 3/10 times!! i agree this is horrible to try and install ! i've been trying to get it to work for 3 days now !!!!
