Problem Installing Suse With Live Cd & Text Mode Bug?!

Cant seem to get it to work on either PC. The first one has a Sata disk which is not detected and the other, my laptop, can boot into the live CD but everything is corrupted on screen. This is the same regardless of which mode i use.

Weirdly, when i choose text mode, it tries to go graphical anyway. This makes no sense at all, surely a text based intall is for people who cannot use graphics. I know what the problem is, i need the ati proprietry driver, but cant install it until i install the OS.

Just clarify for me please: are you trying to install Suse from the live CD & which version of Suse?
