I you have the 965G then your's another board and the newest BIOS is F7, are you sure that your BIOS Version is F10? I think there is something mixed up ...

GA-965G-DS3 (Rev.2/3.3) -> newest BIOS is F7 -> Gigabyte BIOS 965G
GA-965P-DS3 (Rev.2) -> newest BIOS is F10 -> Gigabyte BIOS 965P

There is the difference, that the 965G has an integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3000 which the 965P doesn't have. Do you use the integrated or an extra graphics adapter?

Regards,
JpmMuc.

After the first failure "couldn't find CD/ DVD", it works without problems if i followed the tips in this thread.
Please see also: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:CD_not_found_problem

I followed the above procedure to install 10.2 on my ASUS P5B-VM 965G motherboard. It went smoothly.

The only issues I have now are a pause at boot time of around 30-40 seconds while something or other times out and sorting out the drivers for the onboard graphics.

Hi,
Intel core two duo 965 gigabyte Model 945GMF-DS2 , tried the bios settings can't find where to set ide to ahci.
Using Power colour 9250 video card.
Tried what looked similar to onboard devices but no selection.
SaTA set to auto which includes the PatA and IDE.
tried loading the , jmicron with "insmod=ide-generic" wouldn't load.
loaded generic ide drivers.
still can't load cd.
I can safely say that I burn't the images onto all five discs.
Help required for a new guy on the block.
Thanks
Bill

when trying to install suse 10.1 (same prob with 9.3) dvd installation, dvd boot ok when starting pc, it move to the boot screen (where u choose what should u do next, boot from HD, install etc...), when I choose install it's telling me it can't recognize my dvd (the one I started the installatin from!!!).
I have tried the F4 thing in boot screen choosing DVD, still no help.
I have tried other installation method "ACPI Disabled" "safe mode" etc... no help.
I have tried to install from HD (in the text manual installation thing) this method bypass the main prob and installation start, but then it can't find my software package, so I can't go on with the installation process.

Any thought and ideas in helping me will be much grateful

Use a SATA DVD ROM Drive and try to install. It worked for me with SLES 10 SP1

Hi,

I use 10.2 and Intel Mobo 965WH with these Options in /boot/grub/menu.lst:

kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/md0 vga=0x31a resume=/dev/md1 splash=silent showopts all-generic-ide

OK, your rootdevice is usually another but the important thing is all-generic-ide !

Simply type in the Line "Bootoption" and then try Install...

Good Luck

Hi,

I had the same problem trying to install opensuse 10.2 and now, the same problem trying to install opensuse 10.3. I tried all the things you did. From another user, I notice that if you do a network install you will install it but it still won't detect your DVD. I am using a Pioneer DVD-RW 109D. Refer to this thread:

Cheers
