I don't know any other way to tell you this, so this is my last attempt ...in the boot options box on the installation screen literally type 'insmod=ide-generic' (no quotes), select installation, then see what happens.

I have also tried the open suse 10.2 GM x86_64 dvd installation (md5 checked OK), the problem remain the same, it's most be because my motherboard (Gigabyte 965P DS-3) primry ide are sata connectors and the dvd which I'm trying to install from is connected to the old ide connectors.
The installation detect both sata HD I got but can't recognize the dvd device.

So someone here probably have installed suse on a new pc with cpu E6300 and up and motherboard 965P and up and can help me figure it up.

So I'm still open for suggestions about anything that can help me install it.

I just went through a similar problem with an Intel 965 board.

Try adding all-generic-ide to the kernel options at boot.

Hi, if u got time and want to exaplain me how I add all generic ide to the kernel options as I don't really know how to, and in what stage of the options it's available.

I got suse 10.1 and open suse 10.2 dvd installations don't know where I can add ide-generic, as it send me to manual setup thing after pressing the installatin button.

It's been a while since I did an install but IIRC one of the function keys allows you to add boot options to the install kernel.

Still not working I think suse kernel just don't have my hardware support, so maybe someone can explain me how I make an installation from my Hard disk or other device (like USB etc...) ?
