Sorry for being such a newbie, but having downloaded the Internet Installation Boot image and then booted my computer from it I can give it an ftp server (e.g. mirrors.netbg.com), and even a source folder (/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.0-OSS/inst-source/) but it then wants a swpa directory and I've tried a few things (c
or c temp or ???).What do I do to get to the next stage? Al |

If you just give suse a partition to install to, it will recommend a partition setup which will include a swap partition. If you just have just a C: partition (say winxp on an ntfs partition), you are going to have to make space for suse = a partition. Search this forum for resize partition or resize ntfs, etc.
And, during the install when suse is detecting your hardware, there will be a line for partitions, click on it and an explanation of linux partitions/disk devices will be on the sidebar. Partner, you need to do some reading before you attempt this operation. It's not hard; just real easy for someone not familiar with linux to screwup the existing partition -- your winxp for example. |
