Suse recognises the card as Intersil HFA384x/IEEE, yet I can't get a connection with my wireless network
I've done some reserch before buying this card and it says it's supported in the kernel from 2.6.14, yet mine isn't working. What am I doing wrong? (btw Windows works with it just fine) |

Not familiar with this hardware, but two commands (from root console)
that might help produce more info: pccardctl ident lspci -v What version of opensuse do you require help for? |

It's for 10.3
lspci: Socket 0: product info: "INTERSIL", "HFA384x/IEEE", "Version 01.02 "" manfid: 0x0156, 0x0002 function: 6 (network) I've got a suspicion my card has a prism 3 chipset instead of 2 |

The key information are the vendor and product IDs:
0x0156, 0x0002 I used google with '0x0156, 0x0002 wireless suse' and similar, to come up with a few links (shown below). I've seen evidence that it could require the 'orinoco' or 'orinoco_cs' driver. http://suseforums.net/lofiversion/index.php/t46980.html http://www.saragossa.net/linux-tips/pages/...s+Linux+LAN.php Try using YaST -> Network Devices -> Network Card to configure your wireless device. You should be able to click 'Add', choose 'Wireless Device' then 'Select from a list'. (With openSUSE 10.2, there is an entry for 'Lucent Orinoco and Prism II based...cards', not sure about 10.3 though). |
