Asus Eeepc 900 Display

I am trying to run openSUSE 10.3 on an EeePC 900s which has a 1024x600 resolution screen and an Intel 915 video card. The problem is 1/3 of the bottom of the desktop is off the screen. This starts before I login and continues with KDE or FVWM.

This problem does not exist during the SaX2's X11 Configuration "test", when I use startx from runlevel 3, or use 640x480 (even 800x600 has the problem). The original Xandros installation and Fedora 9 both do not have this problem, so it's not the screen. I have tried using Xandros/Fedora's xorg.conf settings and/or 915resolution, which also don't help.

Here is the SaX2 made xorg.conf and 915resolution -l, which work fine with startx from runlevel 3. I can also post the Xandros or Fedora settings if any would be of any help. Thanks for any advice!

P.S. Other than having to use runlevel 3, everything else seems to work great, thanks to:http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_on_the_EeePC

Go into Yast under the sysconfig editor and change the Desktop/display manager setting to xgl from xorg, to fix this problem. That will also enable compiz if ya did a default install. Im looking for the mode line myself for a eee900 to run xorg so if anyone has one please post it up. If anyone can post the mode line from the xandros install we would be greatfull. If not, i will restore to xandros tonight to get the line.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it when after classes tonight. Is there any way to fix this problem without using xgl? Won't that make video/graphics slow?
