Red face

I have a compaq presario v2403nr notebook computer with an intel gma 815. after installing suse, i manually enabled the 3D acceleration feature. however, the 3d performance on my computer is horrible, far slower than i know it to be able to render. nearly all of the 3D screensavers run at less than 15 fps, in comparison to my windows partition which has a screensaver that renders a highly detailed, antialiased landscape at about 45fps. is there something screwed up with my driver or is there another one i should download? please help; the slowness of the graphics card is killing me!

EDIT: i don't know how this post was posted twice. please delete one of them moderators. thanks.

The Intel i815 GM chipset is not well supported, and is known to give limited results with XGL. More info here:

Read the 'Problematic Hardware' section.

Yeah, I'm already using Xgl with KWindowManager (not compiz). It's helped a little versus the default X server but 3D is still very, very slow and any and all graphics effects on the desktop are somewhat choppy. Hmm... if anyone out there has any tips i'm open to them! my desktop manager still works manageably well so if i'm open to trying anything to speed it up a little.

Post your xorg.conf contents. That might help someone to give you advice.
