I'm having a little trouble understanding what the problem is.

I installed opensuse 10.3 on an HP Tx1000 using a dvd drive connected through a docking station. I think I had to reboot one more time than expected. But it installed completely and ran well. Did you try an internet install?

I'm not sure, but maybe you did not wait long enough. It can take a long time to finish the install on the HP. Also, were you connected to the internet at that time? The files that opensuse downloads to finish the install were at sites that were offline for a while but should be working now.

Unhappy

Ya know I have been haveing some major issues with installing any kinda of linux onto the tx 1000

but I decided I want to stick it through with opensuse, I got it to work 2 times out of about 13 times installing it... over and over... once in KDE ... couldnt stand it, after a regular powerdown and reboot... it broke, no clue why. so I redid it, this time with gnome... and for the most part it seems to install fine. except that when it boots, only the mouse arrow shows, nothing else, no rightclick menus... now task bar.. nothing. I have been working on this for about 3 days now, are there any suggestions on what I should do from start to finish? like boot options? I have heard so many things to do, and not to do, nothing works. also, what video driver should I use? the one time I got it working in gnome, I installed a nvidia...go1 or something to that effect... did the sax2 -r and screen went blank for about 10 minutes... I eventually just forced it off and started a new install :/

what am I doing wrong here?

oh and I have also gotten the same error durning one of the installs
