At present I would really like to run the 3d desktop such as Beryl on my laptop but I read in 1 forum or posting that I really need to install the ATI Driver for me to run this applications. How do I install the ati-driver-installer-8-3-x86.x86_64.run after downloading it. All your help will be great help. Has anybody run the said driver without any problem?

You can run the executable file from a terminal (as root user) with sh ati-driver-installer-8-3-x86.x86_64.run. Of course, you need to make sure you are in the same directory as where you downloaded it first. However, I think you should follow this guide to get the ATI drivers installed correctly:
http://en.opensuse.org/ATI_Driver_HOWTO There are some tests you can do to show that the driver is installed, and the 3D acceleration is enabled correctly. |
