I recently got my first brand-new laptop (hp dv9535nr). It has two 120 Gb hard drives in it. I want to install 10.3 and was considering shrinking the Vista partition to make room for root and putting home & swap partitions on the second drive. Can anyone tell me if there would be a performance hit or other drawbacks by using this configuration?

None at all. In fact, I would advise having /home on a seperate partition anyway. If one drive is faster than the other, put the swap partition on that one

One advantage is when upgrade time comes along - or you want to change OS mix - it is much easier to preserve home if it is on a separate drive. |
