Hi all.
I've just acquired a new HP 9600 series laptop ( dv9625ca to be exact ) and I'm having no end of grief getting up to showtime. A minor bit of grief with GRUB, but the general install went smoothly ( accepted all defaults). I installed Suse 10.3, applied all the current update and installed the "easy way" the nvidia drivers but I cannot get the system to recognize the nvidia modules. I think I'm missing a critical step somewhere.

Specifics.

video NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M (UMA)

latest rpm's from nvidia.com and just updated the kernel from the suse update site.

sax2 -r and -p shows only the VESA frame buffer mode

Am I missing something "stimple"?

Thanks for considering

Check that the kernel version you are currently using matches the kernel version of the nvidia rpm's. My guess is that they do not match. That's why I have always used the "hard" way (which really is quite easy) to intall the nvidia drivers.

Start where it says 'People who aren't afraid..." HTH.

Thanks doc!
For the benefit of lurkers, you need to do this at init 3 and provide a link cc pointing to your gcc.

Anyway, progress at least. I now have 1440x900x24b graphics, but sax2 still reports no 3d acceleration and insists it has only a VESA frame buffer. I also don't see the TV out option anywhere.

Any further suggestions?

Thanks again
