All,

Have been trying to get sound working on this 3 year old laptop but have not succeeded. Upgraded 2 days ago from Suse 9.2, under which sound was working without problems. Now I installed 10.1 (new installation, not upgrade) ACPI enabled and sound is not working. Googling told me to try and turn off acpi at boot. Tried but PC will not start up, I get a kernel panic. Tried installing with acpi disabled as well, same result.

Laptop is a NEC LaVie LF550/4 Athlon XP 1400+, soundcard is an ALI M5451 PCI AC Link controller audio device. Have no sound from headphones either.

Any help is very much appreciated!

Robert

Take a look through this link to make sure that your sound modules are installed and optioned correctly.
