EXTREMELY URGENT!!!Unmountable HDDs/or Corrupt Partition Tables?

Hi...I'm back......I was stressing over the network side of things with Suse and got think happening with Ubuntu, but now I seem to be loosing my Hdds which is a major pain...200GBs of music and 500GBs of Movies (DiVxs)

It all started with the 200GB slave droping from the systems drive...I was also peeved at my PCI-SATA not being recognised either. Turns out after doing some test, that windows will not mount these drive either anymore, only giving me an option to format!!!!!! eeeee gads...like WTF!!!!!

Here is a continuing conversation from Ubuntu with myself; if anyone in here might like to join by all on in, means....please do so...ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! I am hoping to some how re-identify the drives so they can be mounted without nuke ing them...can it be done.

I read i may have to instal DSL d*** small linux on the drives and copy across the data to a fat32....surely i can do it some other way...and HOW THE h*** DOES THIS HAPPEN......It has happened before when I was messing with linux hey????

..........................uBUNTU.....cont....:
Well it's very URGENT NOW...it seems windows cant see it anymore only asking if I want to format it!!!!!!

It has over 140GB of Music on it and it's also doing it to a 500GB drive now that was on the pci-ata-controller that did not seem to work. Now I suspect that Linux has written somthing somehow in the partition tables and now I have probably lost 500GB of Divxs

here is the output anyway...I am so much in trouble...PLEASE HELP i dont want to format these drives?????????????????
Hang on..I will explain one last thing...although you can see the partition types of HPFS/NTFS in the out put...bear in mind in Acronis Disk Director the two that are now not reading in Ubuntu read as NTFS/HPFS with the readable ones only as NTFS????????

PLease anyone, I beg you...I need a solution without formating these drives...I have to beg to keep ubuntu on now as well as save all this datathe 200gb is my music and cant be accessed and one of the 500 is my movies not sure which one though in this output...? but both cant be mounted in ubuntu or windows anymore?

Sdb, sdc and sdd are ntfs. If windows won't mount them, it won't mount them. I can't quite get to exactly what's happening by reading your emotional post. Just state clearly and briefly what you want to achieve.

Here's a post that may not be so emotional...sorry but it really FORKS ME UP when SHAT like this happens!
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=811330

If you can't get the gist of it, don't bother...I don't really care to engage with such a condescending tone. I have been getting results with others you can clearly read this situation for what it is. Looks as if the partition tables are corrupted and I am hopeful that "Partition Table Doctor" will present a way out for me. I will try it out after it is downloaded. Anyone ELSE care to comment?

Settle down and chill. If you want help, state just the facts as clearly as possible. I'd like to help, but I'm finding hard to read and understand your problem.

Three ntfs drives are being recognised. The thing now is to mount them.

Yea Yea...put your stick away there Dean...it's not needed...thanks for your help but talking down like that wont get us anywhere. I've stated the facts & given the tension building, I'll just be heading to bed thanks. If indeed you would like to help, then I would suggest visiting:

Perhaps you can understand that...lets just move on hey?
Peace Out B)

PS...Swerdna may be onto something & for all the good intentions meant (thankyou by the way)...but I tried to explaining in other thread it's a no go or I simply don't understand the method.

It wasn't a condescending tone. Your post seemed to kind of ramble about which made it hard to understand. The gist is you can't mount 2 NTFS partitions under Linux or Windows and you somehow think it was something linux did to the drive(s). That is what I got from it.

What is the output to cat /etc/fstab?

I guess you could say that; depends on where your standing and no one said it to you, however if you have anything else to add on the issue I am all ears????

I have made my peace dude...OK moving on..I guess you could come to that conclusion...I would say the drives are useless in their current state and may need formatting to be if use again. I would say Linux had a part to play in that for sure... I am also sure if I knew more about it I may of been able to avoid the situation, then again maybe not..who knows

It's a d*** shame...

Strange thought pattern. But from reading your posts (Ubuntu and here) you seem to have a belief that Linux ate your drives. Might the problem be that you have a faulty MB?

As a suggestion for saving Data I would disconnect all drives and add them to a known good computer. Than access the drives with a live CD and copy the Data to DVD. Plus as a follow on, keep things simple. It makes life easier to recover from the the inadvertent but inevitable events.

Why would I take a suggestion from someone whose opening line is a careless and demeaning statement..........Get the xxxxx over yourself, I have just about had it up to here with the thought patterns in which you xxxxxxxx Think..............Superiority Complex or what!.

And they said the guys at Mac were worse!
