the perception I have had is that Canon has not offered linux support for its various printers and scanners;
doing some googling; it seems this may be slowly changing: if I note some links that may be of help to anyone trying to get MP or pixma scanners going on Suse; http://mp610.blogspot.com/2008/02/canon-mp...join-party.html this page has many useful external links that may be of use: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=210977 has ppds for various MP Canon printers http://home.arcor.de/wittawat/pixma/ this page refers to scanning with pixma, and has links to possible Canon printer drivers on the japanese site and this link http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/li...r-linux-620610/ discusses more on support for recent canon MP and other devices the above link mentions in detail the Canon solution to using the scanner in their MP devices: their own programme; (rather than sane or GiMP) whiich is called scangear MP or also as one word: scangearmp and can be downloaded from http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0028481.asp in various formats: inc rpm sounds as though it works well for those that install it; and this site provides more detail on installing the scangearMP for what seems to be an asian-only canon printer, MP145 https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/22690 |
