Is it possible to boot a liveDVD from an optical drive that isn't the master?

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 with a CDrom as the Master and a CD/DVD burner as a slave. I wanted to try booting another liveDVD just to check it out, but the boot options are limited to recognizing the one CDrom.

Do I have to swap them? I am hoping to not have to open the case. It is probably really dusty in there and my allergies can't take any more this spring.

It depends on the BIOS. You'll just have to try it.
