I feel a bit silly about this problem as it should work by default but I cant get it to work, sorry.
HP 2175 USB printer is detected fine in Yast with serial number and all, installation goes fine, cups get restarted and all that. PDD file: HP PS 2175 foomatic/hpijs (recommended) (manufactorer-PPDs/hplip/HP-PSC_2175-hpijs.ppd.gz) Connection: USB printer on //HP/PSC 2170 Series?serial=MY43OF53Z873 printing to it gives 0 responce, the jobs come in the queue with a State of " Processing..." and remain that way forever. I added/removed the printer a dozen times but not luck, the printer itself works fine under XP (dual boot) on this system any clues where I can start to look ? edit: http://localhost:631 shows "USB printer is busy; will retry in 5 seconds..." but the printer is just standing there waiting for a job ![]() edit: well I got it working, however I am not sure how ![]() - I found some postings about having to set the connection in yast to hplib instead of usb, so did that, and lpstat -t showed: device for HP_PSC_2170_Series: hp:/usb/PSC_2170_Series?serial=MY43OF53Z873 instead of device for HP_PSC_2170_Series: usb://HP/PSC%202170%20Series?serial=MY43OF53Z873 Cups however showed 2 printers HP_PSC_2170_Series and HP_PSC_2170_Series_2, I removed the 2nd one, had to stop the HP_PSC_2170_Series and start it in Cups and it started to print. Yast printers however now shows configured and a none configure printer, both as model the PSC 2170, but I think I will leave that alone for now. If someone can explain the above that would be nice. |
