Hello to everyone!

I have a problem on how to configure the xorg.conf to have a dualhead working configuration with this hardware:

M/B ASUS m2a-vm hdmi (with integrated ATI x1250 graphics)
two lcd-tv Sony Bravia KDL-40U, both connected with the hdmi input of the tv, but one connected to the hdmi output of the pc and one connected to the dvi output of the pc

I've tried different solution googling on internet but no way to have a stable configuration.
No way to find some good references to ATI driver...

Any suggestion? ...please...

Ps: with windows xp this configuration works fine... and it is frustrating since I'm trying to convince my collegues that linux is better...

First of all what method do you use to install the video drivers? I'd reccommend using the ATI repository for that,
the simple reason being that you'll only get sax support for your hardware that way. So having installed the
drivers that way you can try sax or the Catalyst Control Center to set up your monitors.

I've tried many ways. And yes, now I've installed the ATI drivers with 1-click install that uses ATI repository. But every time I try to change some setting from sax or amdccc the screens goes blank and the system will freeze, and I've to reboot!
After Installing the latest ATI driver from repository I run "sax2 -r" and I've one monitor works at 800x600.
Then I tried "sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx --vesa 0:1024x720@60" and the same bad result of freezing the system.
I tried to run also "aticonfig --initial" and nothing to do...

I'm not sure about the 1-click installers, do they really use the repo? Check if you've got this file after the install:
/usr/share/sax/sysp/maps/update/Identity.map.10.x11-video-fglrxG01 and post back!

Yes I have that file. In fact 1 click installer at first puts the ATI repository in the system.

Well you seem to have the best driver and configuration files from ATI. And obviously this setup is supported by
the hardware as it works in XP. Maybe wait for openSUSE11, first RC will be out next week, 11.0 uses the new
open source radeonhd driver for ATI cards, it's not complete yet, no 3D acceleration, but it seems to work good
already. You might also try it out in 10.3, theres some good info in this link:

Unfortunately I' ve already tested the beta2 of opensuse 11 both with radeonhd and fglrx and the results is always a blank screen. I hope in the final version something could change...
Anyway, let me say an advice to all opensuse users: don't waste your time on ATI, when you can have good and stable official driver from Nvidia! (Up to now I've already wasted 5 months...)

Thanks for your help.

I'm getting troubled, you see I have the same motherboard and I'm planning to purchase a second monitor,
a HDMI compliant, I use an analog LG L1811s LCD today. Now setting up that monitor wasn't easy either,
until I realized the limitations of sax, but for now say 6 months I haven't had much problems with that.
Considering your hardware setup I came to think of that extra card for the HDMI output, that card isn't
a graphics card, it's just some kind of splitter, so you are actually running single head! Let me ask one
single question and if the answer is as I suspect we might find a solution. You say this setup works
in winxp, but can you really get the displays to display different output?

In winxp I have a complete dual-head output with a bigger desktop (not a clone). In fact, as you can find in the motherboard manual, the add-on card is useful only to have different type of output (hdmi or svideo...), while the dual-head is a function implemented in the x1250 chipset itself. Referring to the manual I use the dual vga output support of that card (hdmi + dvi).
