Hi everyone,

I need a 32-bit Java on my 64-bit 10.3 platform. With 10.2, it's easy - I run 1.6 64-bit for most applications, and 1.5 32-bit for the applications that need it. The 10.2 installer lets me choose with binaries to install - but how do you do that with the new 10.3 installer?

Regards,
Lars

Lars,

I think your question has been answered before; search for "java" in "tips & tricks" like http://www.suseforums.net/index.php?act=Se...ighlite=%2Bjava
and
in the 64-bit sub-forum.

I'm afraid that didn't answer my question - which isn't really about Java but more about the YaST software installer: With the pre-openSUSE 10.3 installer, you have a tab for each package called 'Versions'. With this tab, you can choose between a lot of version, up- and downgrading the installed package, and - in the case of the 64 bit platform - you can choose between the 32- and the 64-bit version of the given package.

How do you do that with the new software installer as the 'Versions' tab has disappeared?

Also, my problem isn't Firefox but Novells ConsoleOne that only runs with 32-bit Java - but in case it's available, it runs fine on 64-bit Linux. I've done that with openSUSE 10.2, but cannot figure out how to do it with 10.3.

Regards,
Lars
