I've already tried the live DVD, but I'm afraid it is a 32-bit version, since there is only one DVD image available for download. I just wanna test a 64-bit system before messing up with the real one as regards software incompatibility issues and so forth.
Regards,
Ignaz

The number of additional problems because of using 64 bit openSUSE is small, and solution of most are known. Don't hesitate to install 64 bit version for that reason only.
