Has anyone successfully built a driver (or found one) for a 3ware 9650SE RAID contoller?
I'm not familiar with the procedure to making the driver from the source code... and the shipping kernel of openSUSE 10.2 doesn't have support for this controller. Any thoughts on the subject would be really appricated. Gerhard |

Do an edit > search for > your controller = it's there. You may want to upgrade to that kernel as SuSE 10.2 will most likely stay with the 2.6.18 version; with 2.6.19 coming with the new factory version. You can do it; search the forum for "kernel". Keep your eye on: http://repos.opensuse.org/Kernel:/, I bet there will soon be one for 10.2 & it will be in the 10.2 folder there. Broch @ http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de has written a howto to build your own: http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/index.ph...=post&id=84 Note: The factory kernel won't run on 10.2 as is: it will be easier to compile your own. Have fun... |

When running the x86_64 10.2 installer on a machine with a 9650SE, it can't find any drives. I use System->Search on the PCI devices and I find the 3ware card in the list. What driver name should I use? I try "3w-9xxx", and hit Finish. Whoa, cool, it takes it, cause it didn't take "3ware". But still no drives/partitions show up. If someone might be so kind, can you very explicitly enumerate how to specify a driver for this card so the OpenSUSE installer will see the drives and I can install on to it? Are they on the OpenSUSE x86_64 10.2 distribution? Can I get them anywhere else? Thank you for your help, "I'll be paying for what works, but not before then." |

Greetings.
During installation I have put the original driver from 3WARE (found it on www.3ware.com). All worked perfectly before the first updating a kernel. After updating the binary driver has canceled to be compatible to a new kernel and I have lost disks. However, I know, that the kernel 2.6.19 contains the fine working driver. Today I have asked a command for backport driver from 2.6.19 kernel to OpenSuSE 10.2 kernel, but has not received the answer. Please, who can, try to write similar messages in SuSE. |
