Hello,

I try to install Oracle10g Release 1 and Release 2 on Suse Enterprise Linux10.
I have Xeon Intel Processor Dual Core 64 bit, 64 bit Suse and 64 bit Oracle installer.

I started ./runInstall in the concole as oracle user.
When oracle started linked database I have some errors:
This error message in oracle log:

INFO: Start output from spawned process:
INFO: ----------------------------------
INFO:
INFO: /oracle/product/10gR2/bin/genclntsh
INFO: /usr/lib/gcc/i586-suse-linux/4.1.0/../../../../i586-suse-linux/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /oracle/product/10gR2/lib/libsql10.a when searching for -lsql10
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-suse-linux/4.1.0/../../../../i586-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lsql10
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
INFO: genclntsh: Failed to link libclntsh.so.10.1
INFO: make: *** [client_sharedlib] Error 1
INFO: End output from spawned process.

Have someone a idea?

thanks

IIRC the free version is only available in 32-bit and so will require 32-bit utilities and libraries to work. Those may not appear as dependencies so you have to resolve manually. Try running the installer under linux32, i.e. linux32 ./runInstall

I have server with xeon 64 bit processor and I buy Suse linux enterprise server 10 in 64 bit version.

Yeah, but the free Oracle software is 32-bit only.

Follow this guide:

http://wiki.novell.com/index.php/Oracle10g..._Step-by-Step_1

It applies to 64-bit 10gR2 on 64-bit SLES 10 as well.
