I am running SUSE with an AMD 64 chip.

The clock keeps speeding ahead. It will get to point that every second is a minute to the server. I am running NTP every 5 minutes but that is just helping to mask the problem.

I have tried the no_timer_check fix but that did not help.

I have another server running almost identical hardware except HDs and same kernel but it is doing fine time wise.

This just started happening after I reinstalled SUSE after a HD failure. Before that it was fine.

The question fits in both. I think it would get more attention in the other forum?

First off, the rules of the board that you agreed to simply state to not post the same question in more then 1 forum. Secondly, anything fits in Misc so that is a red-herring. That forum is for anything that does not fit in another forum as stated in it's description. that is why questions about Suse books will stay but technical questions like this will not. Thirdly, it fits better in the 64bit section since it is a question about a 64-bit problem.

go here: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=suse-amd64&r=1&w=2 & search for "lost ticks" may be related.

http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=suse-amd64...t+ticks&q=b

If that doesn't help, then refine the search term to better define your problem like "fast clock" or somethig better.

good luck...

& if you find the solution, please post back with it!
