The SUSE Linux 10.0 retail DVD installed 32bit Firefox by default on my machine. Maybe it was my imagination, but didn't 9.3 have 64bit Firefox installed by default? Where's the 64bit Firefox? (Not that I miss it , just curious).

Mine (boxed version) installed x86-64 by default on both my desktop & laptop. You sure you didn't leanover onto the keyboard while you were reaching for the coffee cup...

LOL...maybe it was the beers eh. Seriously, in Yast, technical data for the package, it says Firefox is 'architecture i586.' But if I look at the 'about firefox' in Firefox itself, it says

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050920 Firefox/1.0.7 SUSE/1.0.7-0.1

WTF, which is it? The reason I was questioning it is because Java and Flash work out of the box. Unless I missed both a Macromedia and a SUN major 64bit release announcement, this is weird. I installed from the boxed DVD by the way.

Let's find out, K-menu -> Control Center -- on the right of the window that opens, what does it say next to Machine: (mine says x86-64).

re: Firefox -- Strange, I have the same as you; I also recently did a You update & got some mozilla & firefox stuff but didn't pay much attention as it came down. All the things that didn't work with 9.3 like flash, etc., have worked since I selected all of KDE & multimedia @ install (then added MAD).

Having fun.

Ok, I just checked on the retail boxed DVD, there is no MozillaFirefox in the x86-64 folder on the DVD, but it is in the i586 folder. So there you have it. I guess the developers were tired of hearing about flash and Java
