Hi, I add a IP-Address and hostname into the /etc/hosts. but the /etc/nsswitch.conf (hosts:files dns) did not work fine. The request way is to the DNS-Server and not to the /etc/hosts. The way must be /etc/hosts -> DNS. Whats wrong? Thanks -- kurvengott ------------------------------------------------------------------------ kurvengott's Profile: http://forums.novell.com/member.php?userid=15867 View this thread: http://forums.novell.com/showthread.php?t=325816 |

Are you saying that you added an entry to /etc/hosts, but when you try 'host $hostname' it doesn't work? -- Menes Narmer menesofmemphis [at] gmail [dot] com "Unity and humility is the lesson all of history teaches." |

I add a host named test-sp and 172.17.17.99 in the /etc/hosts. If I try nslookup test-sp or nslookup 172.17.17.99 , I could see, that the DNS-server is responsing and not the local host /etc/hosts. -- kurvengott ------------------------------------------------------------------------ kurvengott's Profile: http://forums.novell.com/member.php?userid=15867 View this thread: http://forums.novell.com/showthread.php?t=325816 |
