Default WLAN problem

Hi.

I've just installed OpenSuse 10.3 on my media center.
It used to be Ubuntu 7.10 and there WLAN worked with a little handy
work.

In other words I had to "blacklist prism54" in
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.

I've done this on OpenSuse 10.3 too, but no luck.

Yast just says:

Wireless Network Card (not connected)
BusID : 0000:03:04.0
Unable to configure the network card because the kernel device is not
present

And I can not use "lshw -C network" to trouble shoot as I did on
Ubuntu.

Please help me.
I want to run OpenSuse.

Kind regards J;-)

Hi
Have you tried with the blacklist entry removed?
Have a look here, you may need to follow the ndiswrapper link.

I'd rather get it working with the firmware that is avaliable for my
card:

Code:
--------------------

Vendor: pci 0x1260 "Intersil Corporation"
Device: pci 0x3890 "ISL3890 [Prism GT/Prism Duette]/ISL3886 [PrismJavelin/Prism Xbow]"

--------------------

But how do I install the Firmware?

From the Wiki:
"You need to download the firmware, version 1.0.4.3, for the ISL3890 from the following URL http://prism54.org/fullmac.html

and saved the firmware file as isl3890 (no Capitals) in the /lib/firmware/ directory. I used in KDE KMenu/System/FileManager/ FileManager-SuperUserMode to download/save the firmware. "

Hi

The files is saved to /lib/firmware/

What du I do next?
Should it work just by copying a file?

J,

configure the card using the prism54 driver, that should do the trick.

The card has always been configured to use the prism54 driver, via
YAST.

If you want to use the prism54 as your driver you must _not_ have this name
in the blacklist.

OpenSUSE does not have lshw, use lsusb or lspci instead. See manpages for
info on options for these commands.
