SAMSUNG CLP-510N

Once again, i'd like to ask for help with SuSE 10.1 and my SAMSUNG CLP 510N
Network Printer.
First of all i should know: What is the best way to include my printer.
By YAST there is a great selection by adding a new printer:
CUPS, SLP, Direct Printer,...
Which way i ever tried, there was no success. On the SAMSUNG-CD there is a
ppd-File for an 500. But trying to install/include this , i get an error
message that there has been no file found.
What can i do? And how do i have to do this.

First copy your ppd file into the right directory. Use File Manager as Super
User (root) for this. I'm on 10.2 here so things might be a tad different
in 10.1. IIRC, on 10.1 you put the in /usr/share/cups/drivers/models. Here
on 10.2 it is /usr/share/cups/model/. In any case, it will be obvious to
you where to put the copy because all the other ppd's will be there. When I
did this for one of my network printers on 10.1, I put a copy of the ppd in
both the mftr.'s specific folder and also in the manufacturer-PPDs folder.

The normal way to install a network printer is YaST>Hardware>Printers. Start
your Add Printer routine and choose Network printer, print directly to
TCP/IP (don't remember the exact wording but it is obvious). When you get
to the next screen, put in the printer's IP address in the top box. Put in
a short description such as "samsung" in the next box. For location, I just
put in the IP address again. Go to the next page. Do not test the printer
yet. Keep going until you get to the page where you can select the printer
mftr. and the model. The ppd file you copied should show up there. If it
doesn't, you can install it from that page (click the button) and navigate
to it. After you've done all that, use the next Test button to test the
printer and then Finish.

All this will take less time to do than it did to write.
