Default Brother MFC-7220/SuSE10.1 CUPS? LPR?

I cannot get my Brother MFC-7220 to work. All steps taken as root. Here are
the steps I have taken:
1) With Print Manager Print System set to CUPS, printer is seen but no
driver available. No surprise there. Set to LPR/LPRng Print System printer
ADD button is grayed out and the printer is not seen.
2) From http://solutions.brther.com/linux/en_us/index.html got a
CUPSWRAPPER rpm for the printer. Running it to install got the following error:
'There is no installable providers of lpr for
cupswrapperMFC7220.1.0.1-2.i386 [local packages]'
3) Brother site had lpr rpm for this printer: LPRlpr-1.1.2-4.i386.rpm which
installed successfully.
4) Attempts to run cupswrapper again returned to same error.
Note: Brother says the wrappers are optimized for 32 bit Linux and I am
attempting to setup 64 bit. However I do not think this is the source of
the current roadblock.
I would appreciate any help in resolving this issue.
Regards, D

did you try this as listed on their site:
For AMD64 bit users:
Our CUPS drivers and CUPS wrapper drivers have been developed and optimised
for 32 bit Linux distributions, a list of which can be found here:

http://solutions.brother.com/linux/s...fig_list2.html
However, if you are using an AMD64 bit distribution, we recommend you try
copying the file named "brlpdwrapper" from /usr/lib/cups/filter
to /usr/lib64/cups/filter.

otherwise I would email their support they are quick to reply with the
answer to your problem. if they have a solution for it...
