Printing with Suse 10.0 on Parallel port

I cannot print with my Hp Compaq 9005 with the printer connected to the
parallel port. Suse Linux 10.0 do not recognize the parallel port. I had
no problems with Suse 9.3. Is there a way to fix the problem or must I
change back to Suse 9.3. In this case the investment in Suse 10.0 was
useless.

I have an HP Laser_Jet IIIP hooked to the parallel port on SUSE 10.0 retail
version. All applications seem to print fine to it. Did you install the
correct HP filters. What model printer? I can configure mine either thru
YaST2 or CUPS. Cannot say the same about my Epson CX6600.

Try to add line

options parport_pc io=0x378 io_hi=0x778 irq=7 dma=3

into /etc/modprobe.conf.local file.
