I'm trying to get my printer to install on SUSE 10, but this particular
printer is not listed in the selection. Every other MFC is listed except this one. I downloaded the RPM driver from Brother and click on it and it runs through KPackage and then asks me for my root password and goes through the motions, but no new printers appear in the selection and nothing works. Any suggestions would be wonderful. |

I downloaded the cupswrapper driver for my printer as well as the drivers. But when I go to install the cupswrapper it says I need "csh". What is "csh" and how do I install it? Thanks in advance for your help. |

I can not remember if that was all the dependencies, but all it dependencies are found on the suse disk.. |

From what I read and understand, tcsh is supposed to be an advanced version of csh and is supposed to be fully compatible. Any ideas? Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I had a long weekend. |

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I had a > long weekend. I'd also like to note that I am running on an AMD64 bit. I thought that this might be what's causing my problems but i'm not sure. I'm really new to linux so i'm not really sure. I checked the brother site and they say: # For AMD64 bit users: Our CUPS drivers and CUPS wrapper drivers have been developed and optimised for 32 bit Linux distributions, a list of which can be found here: http://solutions.brother.com/linux/s...fig_list2.html However, if you are using an AMD64 bit distribution, we recommend you try copying the file named "brlpdwrapper" from /usr/lib/cups/filter to /usr/lib64/cups/filter. I have looked in that folder for the "brlpdwrapper" and its not there. On my computer there isn't a Cups folder at all, only in the 64-bit lib is there a cups folder. I'm really lossed. Thanks for all the help in advance. |

Sorry to jump in late here but can you just clarify a couple of things for me please: Exactly which driver have you d/loaded from the Brother site? Just had a look here: http://solutions.brother.com/linux/en_us/index.html and it appears that you need *both* the lpd drivers /and/ the cups wrapper. The lpd drivers support your printer but use the lpd printing in linux ( there are more than one way of printing, lpd and cups and each is a separate entity ) each have different drivers ( sort of ). the cups wrapper enables you to use the lpd drivers with cups so you need both, here is the link to select your lpd drivers: http://solutions.brother.com/linux/s...r_drivers.html Here are the instructions for installing the cups wrapper, note the instructions for SuSE about the password: http://solutions.brother.com/linux/s...r_install.html I have just posted this to clear any confusion you may have ( it is an easy one to get confused with ) and I have only had a quick look, I do not have the hardware to test this method but it looks OK to me and should work, if you have any probs just holler back and we will try to sort them out for you.
