Default Paper type and Firefox

Have my printer setup as a network printer using a Win XP pro's shared
printer. I have checked the printer properties and all is set for letter
type paper. When I print the printer ask to be loaded/set to A4 paper.
Where else is the paper type setting handled. I know that I'm using samba
for networking and I'm not sure if CUPS comes into play with the printing
in this case.

Also when I try to print anything in Mozilla Firefox nothing happens at all
(no errors, no print jobs in spooler) but I can print using open office,
and anyother application with no problems.

Thanks in advance.

Your question is old, so maybe you've found the solution by now.

My suggestion is to check the following file:

/usr/share/ghostscript/8.15/lib/gs_init.ps

In this file the default paper size can be selected. I think that Yast
normally would have configured this appropriately for your locale, so I
wonder if you are trying to use letter paper in a country where A4 is
common.

I don't have a guess about Firefox.
