Default choosing a printer

I'm looking for a multi-function printer to buy for use with my SuSE
desktop. Whatever I buy, I want to make sure all its features will work
under Linux: scanner, printer, and fax. It would be really super if it had
a duplex scanner with an automatic document feeder.

Any suggestions?

I have an HP PSC-1350. It's a printer-scanner-copier that has the readers
for various removable media (SD, Flash, SmartCard, etc.). All the functions
work great. With SuSE 9.1 I had to manually get and install the driver, but
with SuSE 9.3 (and I'm sure the 10.0), it was all setup for me during the
install.

It doesn't have duplex scanning, but other than that, it's pretty good.

But you cannot fax from Linux directly, right?

The HP PSC1350 doesn't have a built in fax support. However, it would be
trivial to setup a data/fax modem to do the faxing. Once it's setup, the
fax modem looks like a printer in which you just print to and the document
is faxed. You can even set it up so that you scan using the HP printer, and
have it sent to the fax modem.

The fax support can easily be configured using YaST.
