Here we go again. This time I got a DLink DWA-1320. It has an Atheros
AR5005 chipset. This card is on the SuSE HCL and listed as fully supported on madwifi.org. I downloaded and installed the MadWiFi SuSE rpms. lspci and hwinfo correctly identify the card. However, hwinfo does not assign the device a name. When I start the Network Card function in YaST it detects a wireless PCI card with an orinco chipset. I am getting further than what I did with the other cards. I now need to know how to configure this card. I have to assign it a name, point to the madwifi driver, get YaST to see the proper chipset and start using this card. I'll appreciate any help I can get. |

I finally fixed my problem. Even the rpms that don't have src in them
need to be compiled. Going to the directory created by installing the rpms, I simply had to issue the "make" and "make install" commands. This wasn't in any of the readme files. "make install" wasn't in the Install file. modprobe and insmod told me that I was crazy. I finally tried make install and everything started working. My guess in that the rpms were intended to be used with YaST. My downloading and installing from the command line confused me. The Install file should contain a paragraph about installing the rpms from a command line. |
