I am trying to configure this card so that SuSE 10.1 can recognize and use
it. So far I haven't been able to find any Linux Drivers for it. Has anybody tried to use this card, if so, how did you configure it. If not, can anybody recommend a card that is more Linux friendly. |

Ronald,
that's pretty new hardware. Can you try hwinfo --wlan to tell us which chipset it is? Uwe -- Novell Support Connection Volunteer SysOp Please don't send me support related e-mail unless I ask you to do so. |

hwinfo --wlan produced no results. I then did a hwinfo with no switches
and came up with the following: "Unknown" pci card at pci_168c_23 Vendor DLINK Vendor Atheros Communications, Inc. Vendor_ID 5772 (0x168c) pci.subsys_product_id 14957 (0x3a6d) Since there are no other DLINK components on my system, I have to conclude that this is the wireless card. I hope this is enough information. Right now to access the Internet I have to boot into Windows. To get Linux info, I have to reboot to linux. |

Upon further research, the DLink DWA-552 uses the Atheros AR5008 chipset.

Ronald,
that'd be the madwifi driver. If you check http://madwifi.org/, you see an announcement that the recently added experimental support for this chipset in the 0.9.3 driver. The latest available for easy install in Opensuse 10.2 is 0.9.2, so you'll need to compile it yourself. Given the fact that it is still experimental, *I'd* buy a cheap card which is supported. Just my two cents. Uwe -- Novell Support Connection Volunteer SysOp Please don't send me support related e-mail unless I ask you to do so. |

Thanks for the info. I think that I'll follow your advice and get a cheap
card and use it until I can get a stable driver for this one. |
