setup usb wireless

I have a Hawkins USB wireless adapter that I need to use to connect to a
wireless access point with no security. I do have to sign in to a named
SSID with a username and password. I can't find anything in SuSe 10.0
that even begins to describe how to start. I believe I found the adapter
in Yast but not even 100% sure of that as it doesn't give any info like
the windows programs do as to what acces points are available, channel
settings or security.
