Default LAN card / onboard LAN not working one 10.0

A few months ago I installed SUSE 10 on an older system of mine and ran
fine. A few days ago I installed SUSE 10 on my main computer but it kept
telling me that it could never find a connection to the internet. I used
the YaST program to see if it was recognizing my onboard LAN port. It
found my port but no settings had been verified so I set it up for DHCP.
This produced the same results. I decided to take out the LAN card from my
older system and put it in my new one. SUSE recognized the card and had it
already set for DHCP yet it still couldn't find a connection to the
internet. What could be wrong? I'm a total n00b to linux and SUSE so
explain it to me the best you can without using shell command if possible lol.

You could look in /var/log/message and see if there are any errors there...

Does it work if you set a static address?
