No networking past 1 hop when firewall service is disabled

I would like to disable the Susefirewall service. However, when I turn
off the SuSE 10.0 firewall services, there is no traffic in- or outbound
past the router. Is this a bug or a feature that I need to address by
modifying a config file?

How many NICs do you have? Have you configured them correctly in YaST?
