whois
/usr/sbin/whois belongs to package sax2-tools. It has nothing to do with the network db access whois command. Since ...sbin is preceeding ...bin path for root only the whois command just for root does not work as expected. To access the whois database type /usr/bin/whois. I'd say it is not a good idea to introduce commands to SaX which use same names as standard network commands. Cheers, Hermann. |

Yes, we know. What is worse, is that they have not fixed it, there is no documentation on it, it /seems/ to have no useful purpose and for the life of me, I cannot find the sources to it. Who ever coded it and whoever accepted it into the release, should both be put up against the proverbial wall and shot. B -- http://www.mailtrap.org.uk/ |

I have forwarded this message on to Novell to see what they say, I may not answer posts like this straight away but I like to check myself first and I do totally agree with both of you on this one. -- Mark Twixt hill and high water N.
