Default Connecting Suse10 to WinXP workgroup

How can I get my Suse 10 to connect to my Window XP Pro workgroup? They
can both ping each other, but can browse to earch other.

Please bare in mind I am quite new to Linux.

Thanks

normally if they are on the same workgroup it is not a problem to browse
each other..
goto the control centre > internet & network > samba

then log in as administrator mode button at the bottum of the page. once you
have done that chance the workgroup to be the same as your windows one.
then in the shares section add a shared folder ( something in your home
folder say your document folder) add the path then you see main properties
uncheck read only and check mark the rest - public, browseable, available.
and that it.

the only another problem it would be if you never ran network wizard on
windows xp this needs to run if you want to set up a network on windows..
also it can be firewall problem. either turn off the fire wall or set the
ips to a static Ip all in the same range.. 192.168.0.10 for windows and
192.168.0.11 for the linux machine and the submask is the same range too
( by default window filter out all differing ips and submasks unless told
to do else wise) say 255.255.255.0 this is not usually a problem if
running through a router and the router assigns the ips..

also turn off the suse fire wall and work from there...

it should work now.. now you can adjust your firewall accordingly...
