What motherboard are you using please and the rest of your hardware?

There are drivers for the uli/tulip chipset in the kernel sata_uli, have
you tried booting with it included in the boot?

You should find them in:

/lib64/32/modules/2.6.13-15.7-default/kernel/drivers/scsi

Go to

Yast>System>/etc/sysconfig Editor>System>Kernel>MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT

and add sata_uli to the line.

see if that helps on next boot.

You could include it in the initrd if it is needed for you hard-drives.
