trying to connect to my home wirless network it does have encryption. The Yast hardware sees my wireless card but I can not seem to figure out how to make the connection. Any help would be super. Thanks |

Any help would be super. Thanks You may have a better chance for a helpful answer if you include: - the version of SuSE you have - the type of wireless adapter - the type of encryption your network uses (WEP, WPA, number of bits) Just for comparison, I had surprisingly little trouble connecting a Centrino laptop running SuSE 9.3 to a WLAN using WPA-PSK. In fact, the only hitch was to avoid 8 bit characters (in this case, German umlauts) in the passphrase. Everything else just worked out of the box by configuring intuitively (read: without bothering to read the docs) in YaST. -- Tilman Schmidt E-Mail: tilman@imap.cc Bonn, Germany - In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is. |

HI,
I just installed the suse linux version 10. The encryption is WEP and it is 128 bit. The adapter is an Atheros AR5001X+. I have been trying to get it to work, but I get stuck in the fact that I can not seem to find a utility that will roam for wireless access points. Like windows has the zero config utility which just runs and looks for all open access points. I know the o/s has installed my wireless card I can find it in the hardware but I can not figure the correct settings to connect to my wireless access point. Thanks for the help. |

Kwifimanager will search for access points if you are using KDE Have a look in the menu Internet>Data exchange>Kwifimanager HTH -- Mark Twixt hill and high water N. I went direct to the KDE website I found the .rpm files and I downloaded them but they do not install that way. Should I reinstall the o/s maybe it did not install correctally. Everything else seems to be working fine except the internet it does see all the hardware but I can not connect through my router or wireless cable modem. thanks for the help |

That is the output of the pin command it shows that here the wifi manager is contained in the above package on the DVD ( not sure if it is also on the CD`s ) HTH -- Mark Twixt hill and high water N.
