Greetings,
I was able to install the NCL on my laptop running OpenSuse 10 (thanks to http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/16101.html). But when I went to try and install it on my main desktop machine, it doesn't seem to install the novfs kernel module. My desktop runs Suse Pro 9.3 on an x86_64 processor. Here's the relevant excerpt from the installer output: Stopping novell novfs daemon... ERROR: Module novfs does not exist in /proc/modules Starting novell novfs daemon... FATAL: Module novfs not found. FATAL: Module novfs not found. mount: unknown filesystem type 'novfs' Unable to Open Control Interface start_daemon: exit status of parent of /opt/novell/ncl/bin/novfsd: 255 failed [ncl_control] Error: 'novfsd restart' failed with error code 7 And when I tried to manually add the module: # modprobe novfs FATAL: Module novfs not found. and running both of the following returned no results # find /lib -name "*nov*" -print # find /lib64 -name "*nov*" -print There were no other errors from the installer script. If it's a problem with the 64-bit proc, then I'm hoping I can just recompile the source for the module manually, but can't seem to find that anywhere. If it's something else, than any advice would be welcome. Thanks. It said specifically that the client should not be installed on 64-bit systems. If this is still the case, I'd like to get in touch with the engineers working on this so I can provide some help. Hey, Novell, I love you guys but you keep tripping yourself up. How do you expect to take over the world if you keep tripping over the doormat on your way out? If any developers are watching this thread, please let me know if you need to do some alpha/beta testing. The new linux client works great on my i386 laptop, but I am chomping at the bit for it on my desktop.
