Default Yet another SUSE 10 and novell client question

I've got the client loaded and otherwise functional.Except it doesn't see
the tree or anything.

I know I have to configure SLP. This is where I'm having problems. I'm not
sure what I'm supposed to be entering into the blanks.

What is it asking me for in the Scopes List and directory agent list? Is it
looking for a server name or a package name or what? The terminology is
confusing.

I've tried leaving these blank and nothing happens. I'm pretty sure I don't
need to do anything on the server side(NW6.5 sp3 soon to be sp4).

I hope this isn't too dumb of a question.

Can you ask your network admin?
If you have a Windows machine, type "slpinfo /all" at the cmd prompt,
that should give you an idea of what to enter in the config file.

I am the Network Admin. I've never had to fiddle with this before.

I did the slpinfo /all on my XP machine and the Scope list says 'unscoped',
DA IP Address says <no directory agent>, and the line SA/UA agents says
<unscoped>.
In my mind the SUSE box should be able to connect with the fields blank, if
what I'm reading is correct, but it doesn't.

If you don't use SLP, use the IP of a server with a replica instead of
the tree name. Maybe it works if you put the tree in DNS, too.

Putting the IP address in the tree box worked. Thanks a million.
